Lover Bugs Valentine Card

 For my Valentine Card project I used the Lover Bugs pattern file by ScrappyDew.

The white card base is cut at 12 L x 5w folded in half,  punched with a Martha Stewart Edge Punch. I cut 3 red mats at 4 3/4 w x 5 1/2 L punched using the same punch. Now, if your punch has a larger design you may have to adjust your mat size. One mat for the front, two will be used for the inside of the card. Glue in place, make sure the mats for the inside of your card are secured well. You will be attaching the inside fold to them.

Next I cut and scored the inside fold for my card, you'll want to glue all your pattern paper, mats and do any stamping before gluing to your card base. The red mat with the stamped image I cut at 3 1/4 square, the same for the white mat, then I used the same edge punch. The stamp set coordinates with my paper stack, both from Martha Stewart - Enchanted Woodland. I also fussy cut a flower branch from the paper and adhered to the stamped image, added a pink flower.

After all is dry then you can glue your fold to the inside card base. I started at the bottom first making sure all sides are lined up, then I glued the top section. I closed my card, keep something heavy on top until the glued has dried. You won't have any warping. 

While my card was drying, I inked and put together my paper piecing. My wings are vellum, I applied X-mas Red Stickles to them. The heart doilie is by Bird. Attached my piecing using Scotch Foam Mounting tape, added Rhinestones to the smaller hearts above their heads and more stickles.

Father's Day Card Using Gram and Gramps Set

Today's project is a Father's Day card for my FIL, from my son.  I used Scrappy Dew's Gram and Gramps Set. My children have been very fortunate to know all their Grandparents and Great Grandparents, except my youngest. 

My father passed away when he was only 54 (my youngest son was 3, now 12), it was really so unexpected. He had not been feeling well and passed in his sleep. He rode Motorcycles all his life since he was a teenager.  I always knew his was coming to visit me, by the sound of his Harley. LOL I had a hard time making this card, just wish he was here. I miss him terribly. I would have had to make a different type of card for my Dad, because he was a cool Grandpa. LOL Something with a Harley!

The cut flowers and leaves are from Birds Cards The teal flowers are Recollections Jar flowers. I also applied some Stickles to the center of them. I think Stickles are my go to item when crafting. I use them for everything. LOL

This is the inside tag. I used Porky's font, which resembles a child like font. I Split the letters in MTC and then nudged them close to each other and did a Weld. I also created a Shadow layer, nudged each line close together and then Welded again. I used my Black Cat to cut the letters. They finally look like they are suppose to!!

To create my project, I used the Ancestry paper stack by K&CoMPANY  Plus, some additional colored cardstock by Recollections and Bazzill. Inked and chalked some of my edges and pieces.

First Cuts With My New Machine

My new Black Cat and boy does it Purr!! LOL

Hubby ordered the machine from Sherri at Thats Scrap Inc.

He has heard me talk so much about the machine and knew how much I wanted one. Something always came up and we needed the money for something else. He has been saving for so long without me knowing about it. 

So, he went road cycling said he would be doing about 25 miles. I knew he would be gone for a bit.  It was about 8:55am when I heard a truck pull up. It was Fed Ex. I see him get this big box out and then start coming up onto our porch with it. I could not see what is was through our sheer curtains. Then I realized, I'm still in my PJ's.  I had to reach from around the door and sign for it. I hear the snickers!! LOL

 I had to run upstairs and get dressed. When I opened the door to see what it was, I was totally shocked! Shortly there after the phone rings, it was a voice I've never heard before. Sherri, I could not believe she was calling me. Just wanted to make sure it arrived safely and what to do if I needed help. So very nice of her!

Next step was unpacking it and deciding where I was going to keep it.
Watched some videos and read some tutorials. Then I played around a bit with some of the buttons and functions. I was ready to try the pen test. It was a success! It was now 11pm and I needed a break to clear my head after filling it with so much info, so I went to bed.  Well, you can guess what I was dreaming about all night! :) I heard the machine in my sleep. I love the sound of it, if that's possible!

So this morning I woke at 4:30am, read some e-mail and had to wait for everyone to wake so I could play. I was excited to try and cut something, but scared at the same time. I'm using an older laptop upstairs for the time being with my machine. I did not have many files on it. So I just selected some borders for my first try. I was scared I would cut through my mat. LOL I've heard some say this has happened to them.

These are my first cuts with the machine. I was so excited that I had the settings right. 

This last one I had ripped pulling it from the paper. I was in a hurry and needed to make breakfast for my son. He was about to starve. LOL

All in all I had a productive first cut.
